The World’s Most Dangerous Pets

Pets are usually lovable and add character to our homes, but there are many types of animals that will make very dangerous pets if you decide to take one of them home.  Nonetheless, some people still choose to have these animals as pets, despite the danger they bring with them.

One of the most dangerous pets around is the tiger.  Most people will never understand why some choose to have a tiger for a pet, but they still do.  And just as dangerous as the tiger are other varieties of large cat that some people decide to take home.  It’s pretty obvious why this type of animal is on the list of most dangerous pets.  Big cats may be very cute and adorable while they’re cubs, but remember, they get bigger!  Also big cats are natural predators, and they may decide you look mighty tasty one day.

Number two on our list of most dangerous pets is the crocodile.  Alligators fall into this category also.  They look like cute little lizards when they’re babies, so many people decide to take them home.  However, they grow up to be very large, and they also tend to eat people, or at least chomp on their extremities.

Another one of the most dangerous pets is the snake.  With this category, it truly depends on what kind of snake you’re talking about.  Venomous snakes are by far the most dangerous snake to have as a pet, especially those with some types of venom.  All it takes is one bite from some kinds of snakes, and you could be dead as a doornail.  While there are some anti-venoms available for those who choose to own venomous snakes, just ask yourself one question.  Is it really worth the risk to own a snake that could kill you if you don’t receive the anti-venom in time?

Believe it or not, turtles also make our most dangerous pets list.  Sure, they seem harmless enough, but the danger with turtles lies in what you cannot see.  The problem with these guys is that they carry salmonella, a deadly bacteria that’s commonly a food-borne illness.  It’s important to always wash your hands immediately after handling a turtle, especially if it’s a baby one.  Use soap and hot water after you handle a turtle and before you touch anything else, especially your face or mouth.

Number five on our list of most dangerous pets is the dog.  Yes, the dog.  Not all dogs are dangerous of course, and many dogs make wonderful family pets.  However, some breeds of dogs are simply not good pets, especially for families with small children.  The pit bull may be one of the most troublesome breeds, and there are many stories of people being mauled by pit pulls.  Pit bulls have even been known to kill people, especially small children.  Another dangerous dog to watch out for is the Rottweiler.  This breed is very aggressive and has extremely territorial instincts, which makes it very dangerous for the average family.
